GO RESINLAB
Project:
Preserve and improve social ecosystems related to natural resin’s tapping activity.
GO RESINLAB has been set up to promote new models of professionalization of the tapping activity that increase its efficiency and profitability and to develop new tapping technologies that ensure sustainability. In addition, this group will create a data observatory that aims to improve trade transparency and traceability of the product, and serve as support for the decision-making of owners, workers and managers, which will improve the market and help maintain the activity in the long term.
Activity Areas:
The GO RESINLAB Operational Group stands as an experimental laboratory (Living labs) made up of a network of tapping plots in several municipalities of Spanish’s Communities Castilla Y León, Castilla la Mancha and Extremadura. Owners, managers, researchers, tappers and the transformation industry will work together to innovate in the processes for obtaining the resin; in professional models that allow greater profitability for tappers and forest owners; and in the improvement of the value chain that guarantees the maintenance of the activity and the national market.
One of the potentials of the Operational Group is the collaborative work of all the actors in the natural resin value chain with a common goal: to guarantee the maintenance and sustainability of the activity.
This joint work will make it possible to identify the strengths and weaknesses in each part of the process and create technological, labour and market solutions that are economically, socially and ecologically sustainable.
Objectives:
The three main objectives of GO-RESINLAB are:
• Objective 1: Promotion of new models of professionalization of the craft of the resin tapper.
• Objective 2: Development of new tapping technologies that ensure the sustainability of the use in the network of RESINLAB plots
• Objective 3: Creation of a data observatory
